Calling to a time of fast and prayer!

Why do we fast and pray?
1.   To “harness” the power of prayer.
2.   “Harness” means to bind; to couple; to manage; to be yoked together; to be connected.
3.   When we pray, we invite the Holy Spirit to come next to us so that we can be yoked together.  Rom. 8:26-27.  With His “dunamis” (dynamic power) we can conquer everything in every situation in belief.
4.   Prayer also brings “fellowship” with the Father to a new dimension of intimacy in the believer’s life and into an exciting new walk with God. Tiredness disappears and your heart fires up for the Lord and his Kingdom. Rev. 3:15-16.

Proposed prayer times:
  • Mornings (even just for 5 min; if possible 1 hour) Acts. 3:1
  • Afternoons (lunch times; 5min – 25 min). Alone or with your staff or any member or friend.
  • Evenings (5 min – 1 hour) Alone or with your family.
NB! Nothing is rigid – remember prayer flows out of relation.
Be aligned with the Holy Spirit to pray continuously. Ef. 6:18

The power of prayer life is established through:
  • The way we approach God.
  • The acceptance of His Word.
  • The application of His Word.
Approach:
  • In humble dependence.
  • With a prepared honest and discerned heart before the Lord.  With the help of the Holy Spirit we can identify and confess areas of negativity, death, criticism, offence, bitterness, unforgiveness, fear etc.
  • Take a moment to thank the Lord for His love and faithfulness; thankfulness begins with knowing that we belong to Him. Thanksgiving and honour goes hand in hand and worshipping flows out of it. (Worship: worth-ship). (Ps 100).
  • Now is the time to open your heart for insight and prayer
NB! Your fears and thoughts will give you a hard time, but remember that it is in His power that we conquer. (Zec 4:6  This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by force or by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of armies.

Remember we pray for:

“Insight” to know what we/you must do, like Israel.1 Chron. 12:32.

The Lord is and stays the “true and faithful Shepherd” and He will lead us through “dark times” and even in the night, there is a place of protection and provision in Him.

Proposed areas of prayer:
  • Crime activities in Pinetown area.
  • Campus ministries and its leaders
  • Campus partners
  • Restoration of Passion for God in peoples lives
  • Campus finances
NB! The Lord’s question to us is very simple:

CAN A NATION RETURN TO THE LORD?
If your answer is “YES”, then you have to ask the Lord which part you can to play.

2Ch 7:14 AMP  If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

Keep a diary of what you hear from the Lord and experience and live the blessing thereof.
Please share with us what you received from the Lord.

Hidden Treasure

Eph 1:4-5 MSG  Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love.  (5)  Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!)

Deuteronomy 14:2 MSG  You only are a people holy to GOD, your God; GOD chose you out of all the people on Earth as his cherished personal treasure.
When we speak about treasure, we are actually referring to something that has great value.  The verses above clearly indicate from God’s perspective how valuable we are to Him.  The question we should ask is……do we place the same value on God and His Word?  The Bible says that we will invest our time and energy in the place where our treasure is…..
Luk 12:34 MSG  It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
When we find something that is of true value to us…. we undoubtedly will sacrifice everything we have to take possession and receive the gift that eluded us for so long.  That is why the Word tells us that the King of God is exactly that.
Mat 13:44 NLT  "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field-and to get the treasure, too!
Don’t go on a wild goose chase looking for treasure that will never be found or treasure that you cannot keep.  Rather choose the gift of life and ask God to establish His Kingdom in your life…..  Thgis truly is a treasure worth finding!!
